Prince Harry, Meghan Markle news: Saturday Night Live’s Colin Jost pokes fun at royal couple

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were the subject of a cheeky joke on Saturday Night Live this week.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, 40 and 43 respectively, came up during host Colin Jost’s Weekend Update segment. 

”President Trump also announced a new trade deal with the UK that will reopen British markets for American companies,” Jost began.

”All that Britain demands in return is that we keep these two,” he quipped, before smirking to laughter from the audience.

The segment was poking fun at Harry and Meghan living in the US with their family, after stepping down from royal duties and leaving the UK amid an ongoing estrangement with the British royals.

During a recent BBC interview, Prince Harry said he hopes to reunite and reconcile with the royal family despite all that’s happened.

“I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point continuing to fight any more, life is precious,” he said.

He said his father King Charles, who is undergoing medical treatment for cancer, “won’t speak to me because of this security stuff”.

Harry opened up about family after his failed security bid. He lost his legal appeal over public-funded security in the UK.

Over the weekend, Meghan made headlines by sharing images and video from her and Harry’s date night at a Beyonce concert in the US.

The couple attended the fifth night of the singer’s Cowboy Carter tour in Los Angeles, with Harry wearing an on-theme cowboy hat for the show.
