Prince William launched the Earthshot Prize – a 10-year project aimed at finding achievable solutions to the climate crisis – in 2020.

Blanchett serves as a member of the Earthshot Prize Council, “a global team of influencers from a range of sectors”, which picks the five winners each year.
The 13-member council also includes Queen Rania of Jordan and Sir David Attenborough, with Prince William heading up the conservation conscious group.
Prince William rallied his celebrity friends – including Irwin, Blanchett, David Beckham, Hannah Waddingham, Jacinda Ardern and Heidi Klum – to announce this year’s Earthshot Prize will take place in Rio de Janeiro.
