Princess Ines of Sweden has made her debut on the balcony of the Royal Palace in Stockholm to celebrate her grandfather the King’s birthday.

The youngest member of Sweden’s royal family was held by her mother Princess Sofia during the celebrations, which drew huge crowds across the city.

King Carl XVI Gustaf turned 79 on April 30 and the monarch was joined by most of his family on the palace balcony, including his wife Queen Silvia. He is Europe’s longest-serving monarch, having ascended the throne in 1973.

Throughout the appearance on the balcony, Princess Ines remained wrapped in a white blanket and was held by Princess Sofia, who stood next to her husband Prince Carl Philip. Two of their three sons, Prince Julian and Prince Gabriel, were there too.

So were Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel and their two children Princess Estelle, 13, and Prince Oscar, nine.

Princess Madeleine – who recently launched a skincare line – and her husband Christopher O’Neill were at the celebrations too, along with their three children Princess Leonore, Prince Nicolas, 10, and Princess Adrienne, seven.

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia will meet King Charles and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle later today (Thursday May 1) as part of a brief visit to the UK.

They will be there to gift a Swedish oak tree in celebration of the coronation, which took place two years ago next week.

It will be planted in the Home Park of Windsor Castle after it was grown at the Royal Nursery at Solliden Palace, the Swedish royal family’s summer residence.

The Swedish royal family will come together again next month to celebrate Princess Ines’ baptism.

The baby, who was born on February 7, will be christened on June 13 which also happens to be her parents’ 10th wedding anniversary.

The ceremony will be held at Drottningholm Palace Chapel in Stockholm, where the royal wedding was held in 2015.

The baby’s full name is Ines Marie Lilian Silvia and her title is Duchess of Västerbotten.

Like her siblings and the children of Princess Madeleine, Princess Ines is a member of the royal family but not part of the royal house.

Princess Ines is now eighth-in-line to the Swedish throne and the ninth grandchild for King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia.
