Putin visits Xi in China, hot on Trump’s tail; Trump was ‘an hour away’ from blasting Iran; President says next strike only days away

Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon have killed at least 19 people, including four women and three children, the Lebanese Health Ministry said. This is the latest in almost daily attacks from both sides that have not stopped despite the fragile US-brokered ceasefire in the war between Israel and Hezbollah.

The fighting is proceeding semantically, with the ceasefire technically between Israel and Lebanon, and not the non-governmental, Iranian-backed militant group Hezbollah.

The Israeli army did not immediately comment on the casualties or specific incidents, but said it had attacked more than 25 locations of Hezbollah infrastructure in southern Lebanon between Monday afternoon and Tuesday afternoon.

In Beirut, the government said a single attack on the village of Deir Qanoun al Nahr in the coastal province of Tire killed 10 people, including three children and three women. Three were injured, including a child.

The ministry gave no further details about the strike, but the state news agency said a house was destroyed, leaving several people trapped in the rubble. Their bodies were removed later in the day.

According to the ministry, another airstrike – this one on the southern city of Nabatieh – killed four people and injured 10 others, including two women. A third attack in the nearby village of Kfar Sir killed five people, including one woman.

The latest deaths came a day after the death toll in the latest round of fighting between Israel and Hezbollah surpassed 3,000, and two days after the US-brokered ceasefire, in place since April 17, was extended for 45 days.
