Queen Camilla braves the rain and greets royal fans during racecourse visit in Hexham in latest public appearance

Queen Camilla has braved the rain to pay a visit to the privately-owned Hexham Racecourse.

The lavish racecourse is the only racing track in Northumberland in the UK.

Camilla, 77, was taken on an official tour by officials, later labelling the location as “the most beautiful racecourse”.

After officially opening the racecourse, Camilla said she was “thrilled” to be in Hexham.

”I haven’t been here, I am ashamed to say, before but it really is the most beautiful racecourse. It has the most wonderful views,” she reportedly said while standing under a photograph of the late Queen Elizabeth’s horse No Trumps.

“Unfortunately, I didn’t bring the weather with me, I can imagine what it is like on a sunny day because it looks pretty good on a day like this. Next time, I hope to come back with a runner. Hopefully it emulates No Trumps,” the Queen added.

Queen Camilla is an avid fan of both horses and horseracing events, as is majority of the British royal family.

During her visit she toured local Hexham Farmer’s Market, greeting royal fans who had gathered to see her.

Most people had been standing in the pouring rain waiting for her.

The royal was handed gifts by members of the crowd including flower bouquets and a framed picture of her and King Charles.

She was also gifted drawings from school children and a poetry book titled Land of Three Rivers.
