Queen Margrethe of Denmark has been hospitalised after cancelling a scheduled appearance in Hellerup.
The beloved royal had been expected to join celebrations for the 125th anniversary of the Sankt Lukas Foundation this week.
However the Palace has revealed the 85-year-old royal was admitted to Rigshospitalet.

”As a result of the cold HM Queen Margrethe has contracted, it has been decided that the Queen will be admitted to Rigshospitalet for observation as a precaution,” the Palace said in a statement.
Queen Margrethe has been associated with the Sankt Lukas Foundation since she became protector of the Danish Student House in Paris in 1972.

Queen Margrethe abdicated in January 2024, with her eldest child King Frederik ascending the Danish throne alongside his wife, Australian-born Queen Mary.
She marked her 85th birthday on April 16, appearing alongside her family at Fredensborg Palace for a celebration.
This included King Frederik, Queen Mary and their four children, Crown Prince Christian, 19, Princess Isabella, 18, and 14-year-old twins, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine.
Also in attendance were her son Prince Joachim and his children Count Nikolai, 25, and Count Felix, 22, as well as her sister Princess Benedikte, 80, and Queen Anne-Marie of Greece, 78.

Queen Margrethe underwent major back surgery in February 2023 ahead of her abdication, taking sick leave until April.
Since then she has frequently used a walking stick in public.

“According to the circumstances, the Queen is doing well, but was admitted for observation for the time being,” the Palace’s Head of Communications Lene Balleby said at the time in a statement.
