Queen Rania of Jordan has met with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni during her brief visit to Rome.
Meloni hosted Queen Rania at Villa Doria Pamphili in Rome, where the pair discussed the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
The official visit came just hours after King Charles III journeyed to Italy to address both houses of the Italian parliament in a historic moment.

An official statement from the Office of Her Majesty explained, “Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah met with the Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, on Wednesday, during a brief visit to Rome.
The statement continued, “Queen Rania highlighted the lack of food, medical supplies, and basic necessities following the suspension of aid deliveries into the Strip.
“During the courtesy meeting, Her Majesty thanked the Prime Minister for Italy’s humanitarian support and its provision of aid to Gaza’s population.

“She also underscored the Strip’s growing orphan crisis, where more than 39,000 babies and children have lost one or both parents.
“Emphasising the strong ties between both countries, the Queen and Meloni discussed the importance of projects in education and child and family protection in Jordan, which are supported by the Italian Development Cooperation,” the statement concluded, affirming the strong ties between Rome and Amman.
Queen Rania’s appearance followed King Charles making a historic address in the Italian language.

The monarch also visited “to reaffirm the deep friendship between the United Kingdom and Italy”.
“Italy is, as I hope you know, a country that is dear to my heart,” the 76-year-old said.

“It means a very great deal to the Queen and myself to return to Italy for our first visit since my accession,” His Majesty said in Italian.
“The timing is all the more special to us both since today also marks our twentieth wedding anniversary.

Charles also met the Italian Prime Minister at Rome’s Villa Pamphili to enjoy a performance of Shakespeare’s Othello ahead of the royal banquet, which Mattarella will host at Rome’s Quirinale Palace.
Queen Camilla simultaneously undertook solo duties, visiting the local public school, Istituto Comprensivo Alessandro Manzoni, to celebrate the 80th birthday of the British Council in Italy.
