Queensland man charged after police find $1.1 million stash of allegedly stolen diesel

A Queensland The man has been charged after allegedly stealing $1.1 million worth of diesel fuel fuel over a period of twelve months.

Police allege the 48-year-old man used stolen fuel cards to pump fuel from unmanned diesel depots in Brisbane and Ipswich between December 2024 and December 2025.

The diesel is said to have been swept from depots in the suburbs of Parkinson, Bundamba and Karawatha.

The man was arrested after police executed a search warrant at a home in Greenbank, Logan, on March 24, where officers allegedly discovered evidence of the fuel theft, other stolen property and a homemade Taser device.

He has been charged with seven offences, including two counts of receiving contaminated property, one count of fraud worth at least $100,000, entering premises and committing an indictable offense and unlawful possession of D/H/R weapons.

Police warned that the charges are a timely reminder that fuel theft is a serious crime, regardless of the amount.

“Whether it’s one tank of fuel or large-scale diesel fraud, stealing is a crime that can land you in court,” said Acting Detective Inspector Justin Anderson.

The man appeared at Richlands Magistrates Court on March 25.

He has been taken into custody and will appear in court again on May 15.
