Rebel accused of leaking actor’s nude photo amid feud

Hollywood star Rebel Wilson is accused of orchestrating a cyberattack on a rising star’s social media account, causing her nude photo to be leaked.

The Pitch Perfect star is being sued by Charlotte MacInnes, the Australian lead of her recently released directorial debut, musical comedy The Deb.

MacInnes claims she was defamed by Wilson in four social media posts claiming the young actor had committed a sex act intimidation complaint and then withdrew it to continue her career.

In a shocking affidavit filed in the Federal Court, the young star blames Wilson for arranging the hacking of her social media account and the leaking of a nude photo.

MacInnes claims her Snapchat account was compromised and an attempt was made to hack her Facebook account days after she filed legal action against Wilson in September 2025.

“I believe this was orchestrated by Rebel,” she wrote in her statement.

“It was completely terrifying and created a new kind of fear.”

No evidence has been presented to support her claim and Wilson has not yet been questioned about the hack.

It came after Wilson spread “malicious lies” in social media posts, causing MacInnes to cry every day for weeks, the young actor said in an affidavit.

“I felt like she was tearing me apart and showing it to the world,” MacInnes revealed.

She had looked up to Wilson but felt powerless after the Hollywood star shared messages with her 11 million followers accusing MacInnes of unfairly withdrawing a sexual harassment complaint.

The Bridesmaid The actor bullied and intimidated her while falsely portraying herself as a whistleblower who spoke out to protect her, MacInnes said.

“I was angry because Rebel claimed to be someone who stood up for women… but then so maliciously and dishonestly persisted with a narrative that portrayed me as a liar, prostitute, sellout and whore,” she wrote in an affidavit.

It was heartbreaking to see so many people believe Wilson and as a result become victims of abuse and hate online, MacInnes wrote.

She revealed that she made the devastating decision not to attend the premiere The Deb – her first feature film – because she did not feel safe with Wilson.

“I still feel unsafe in the industry I once dreamed of because Rebel is so well known and I don’t feel like I have enough voice yet to fight back,” the actor testified.

Her lawsuit centers on the aftermath of a medical episode that happened to co-producer Amanda Ghost on Bondi Beach in September 2023.

MacInnes helped her back to an apartment they shared with others and the pair eventually shared a bath in their swimsuits to warm up, she says.

Wilson claims the star of her film confided she had felt uncomfortable after Ms Ghost asked to shower and bathe together, but MacInnes has denied making a complaint.

Ms Ghost told the Federal Court on Friday she was shocked when the A-lister said MacInnes indicated she felt uncomfortable and asked her to clarify whether a complaint was being made.

“Charlotte says everything’s fine,” Wilson told her after speaking to MacInnes.

“She just meant ‘it was a bizarre situation’, not that she was personally uncomfortable.”

When Ms Ghost expressed her relief, the new director explained that MacInnes immediately said there were “zero problems”. When Ghost expressed her relief, the Hollywood actor explained that the young actor immediately said there were “zero problems.”

But after discussing the complaint further with Wilson, she admitted she had doubts about MacInnes’ honesty at the time.

“I was annoyed after Rebel presented me with a case about her,” she said.

Ghost later told a friend that she got so angry at MacInnes that she couldn’t even look at her.

She was so concerned that she decided to avoid the young actor, initiate a third-party investigation into the complaint and evict MacInnes from the apartment they shared.

MacInnes revealed during her own testimony yesterday that she felt confused and deeply saddened by Ghost’s distance.

After discovering the reason for the cold shoulder, the actor said it was important for Ghost to know she never filed a complaint.

Ghost played a big role in her career and she worried about the potential impact of a fight, the young actor said.

But the producer agreed she had doubts about MacInnes’ honesty after discussing the complaint further with Wilson.

“I was annoyed after Rebel presented me with a case about her,” she said.

Ms. Ghost was so concerned that she decided to avoid MacInnes, initiate a third-party investigation into the complaint and evict the young actor from the apartment.

She came to believe the young actor was telling the truth after meeting her in person, she told the court.

Wilson will take the stand when court resumes Tuesday.
