Hollywood star Rebel Wilson insists she was telling the truth when she told millions of followers that a young actor had withdrawn a sexual misconduct claim to further her career.
The Pitch Perfect star is being sued by Charlotte MacInnes, the 27-year-old lead actor of the musical comedy The Deb.
MacInnes claims she was discredited by Wilson social media messages suggesting she is a liar who withdrew a sexual harassment complaint to further her actions music career.

Wilson claims the young actor confided – but later recanted – that she felt uncomfortable when the film’s co-producer, Amanda Ghost, asked to take a shower and bath together in September 2023.
MacInnes denies she has filed a complaint or backpedaled, insisting she never said she felt uncomfortable.
Wilson denies allegations that she fabricated the complaint to sow division or made it for her own purposes, rather than out of concern.
“I have not benefited from this experience that has led to a lawsuit,” says the Bridesmaids star told the Federal Court on Thursday.
“All I did was tell the truth, with significant consequences to myself and significant harm.”
During her third straight day on the witness stand, Wilson claimed she was bullied and harassed for continuing to tell the truth to people, some of whom are extremely wealthy and powerful.
When it was suggested that she herself is rich and powerful compared to MacInnes, Wilson responded that the young actor appears to enjoy a luxurious, international lifestyle.
She claimed that MacInnes withdrew her complaint against Ghost in exchange for “huge inducements”, including a starring role in a stage production and a recording contract.
“She has changed her story, she has been upset and she has received enormous benefits,” Wilson told the court.
She has repeatedly insisted she was telling the truth in the social media posts that are the subject of what she deemed a “baseless defamation lawsuit.”

“I am known as a truth teller,” the actor testified.
Placing the Instagram The stories to her 11 million followers were not intended to attack MacInnes, she said, but it does not appear to have caused her any harm.
“I don’t classify it as an assault, I classify it as telling the truth,” Wilson told the court.
But MacInnes testified that she felt bullied and intimidated by the older actor and blamed her for orchestrating a cyberattack on her social media account that led to a nude photo being leaked.
The Deb‘s protagonist revealed her Snapchat account was compromised, and there was an attempt to compromise her Facebook bill days after she filed legal action against Wilson in September 2025.
“I believe this was orchestrated by Rebel,” she wrote in an affidavit.
“It was completely terrifying and created a new kind of fear.”

Wilson rejected the allegation when it was put to her by MacInnes’ lawyer, Sue Chrysanthou SC.
“It is absolutely outrageous to claim in court that I am a hacker,” she replied.
When asked if she had instructed someone else to carry out the breach on her behalf, Wilson replied: “Apparently not.”
She similarly dismissed suggestions that she was stalking the young actor to determine her whereabouts as absolute nonsense.
Chrysanthou has argued that Wilson wrongly portrayed herself as a whistleblower trying to protect MacInnes, when she instead used the alleged complaint as leverage in a commercial dispute with her co-producers.
Wilson has dismissed the suggestion, claiming she considers herself a champion of women.
She completed her testimony Thursday afternoon.
