Rubio meets with Pope in fence-mending visit after Trump’s insults; Iran lays out rules for the Strait of Hormuz; Trump calls the EU on nukes

Donald Trump called the EU president and said the pair discussed “many topics”.

Both agreed that Iran should not have nuclear weapons, but in classic Trump style there was a sting in the tail: He gave them a July 4 deadline to comply with the EU’s side of a tariff deal.

“I had a great conversation with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. We discussed many topics, including that we fully agree that Iran can never have a nuclear weapon. We agreed that a regime that kills its own people cannot control a bomb that can kill millions,” he wrote.

‘I have been waiting patiently for the EU to fulfill its side of the historic trade deal we agreed in Turnberry, Scotland, the biggest trade deal ever!

‘It was promised that the EU would honor its side of the deal and, according to the agreement, cut its tariffs to ZERO!

“I have agreed to give her until our country’s 250th anniversary, otherwise unfortunately their rates would immediately increase to a much higher level. Thank you for your attention to this matter.”
