Severe storms in Maryland cause widespread power outages, uproot trees, and down power lines.

Stormy conditions uprooted trees, downed power lines, and left tens of thousands of Maryland residents without electricity on Thursday.

These intense storms rolled across the state, bringing destructive winds, heavy rainfall, and localized flooding in certain regions.

The National Weather Service reported that some areas in Maryland experienced hail and wind gusts reaching up to 70 mph.

Power outages throughout Maryland
As of 7 p.m. on Thursday, approximately 55,000 customers of Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) were without power in Maryland.

The hardest hit area was Anne Arundel County, where close to 30,000 residents experienced power outages. Additionally, nearly 15,000 outages were reported in Prince George’s County, and over 7,200 in Baltimore County.
