Singer D4vd, whose legal name is David Burke, has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of a 14-year-old girl whose body was found in his car.
The decomposed body of Celeste Rivas Hernandez was discovered last year, wrapped in a bag, in the trunk of a Tesla.
The car, which appeared to have been abandoned, was registered to the 20-year-old singer from Houston, Texas.
Burke is currently being held without bail, Los Angeles police said in a brief statement.
Police said investigators would submit a case to the Public Prosecution Service on Monday for review of charges.
The alt-pop singer was already under investigation by an LA County grand jury investigating Hernandez’s death.
The investigation into the teen’s death was originally secret but was revealed in February when Burke’s family objected to subpoenas demanding they testify.
This move also revealed that Burke was the target of the probe
Representatives for Burke did not respond to multiple requests from The Associated Press for comment on the case.
Burke was first linked to Hernandez in September 2025, when her remains were found “severely decomposed” in his Tesla.
He was initially not involved in her death, but several of his scheduled tour dates were canceled or removed from websites after the discovery.
