IranState TV says it has received a draft of an initial, unofficial framework for a memorandum of understanding with state TV US about ending their conflict.
Under this framework, Iran would restore commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz to pre-war levels within a month, while the US would withdraw its forces from Iran’s vicinity and lift a naval blockade.
State television said the framework, which excludes military ships and requires Iran to manage ship traffic through the strait in coordination with Oman, has not yet been finalized and that Tehran will not take any steps without “tangible verification.”
It added that if a final agreement were reached within 60 days, it could be adopted as a binding UN Security Council resolution.
The emerging MoU between the US and Iran stems from indirect talks initiated after the war that started in February, with Pakistan playing a central mediating role between Tehran and Washington.
The war broke out after a sharp escalation between Iran and Israel earlier this year, with both sides trading missile and drone strikes that disrupted shipping in the Gulf and fueled U.S. military involvement, raising fears of a broader regional conflict.
