Tara Pavlovic shares surprise from ex-husband Nick Shepherdson on first Mother’s Day since marriage breakdown

Tara Pavlovic has thanked her ex-husband for his part in hosting a special Mother’s Dayher first with their children after their divorce.

The mother of two and former Bachelor Star said she got a special surprise when she arrived to pick up her children former Nick Shepherdson.

“When I picked them up, they had a beautiful gift and a card in hand for me – just like every other year. And I think that says a lot,” Pavlovic said.

“Even though our relationship has changed, he still encouraged the children to celebrate me as their mother.”

Pavlovic shared the ‘appreciation post’ to celebrate healthy co-parenting, hoping to inspire others.

She and Shepherdson share two children, Paddy, four, and Edi-Rae, three.

“Co-parenting is not about who wins, who is right, or holding on to grudges. It’s about putting your children first, even when things are hard. It’s about creating stability, love and security for them in two families,” she said.

“Today wasn’t my day with the kids, but when I asked if I could have them over for the night for Mother’s Day, there was no arguing, no tension, no making things difficult. His response was simply, ‘Of course they have to be with you on Mother’s Day.'”

Pavlovic addressed their divorce on April 6 Instagram statementand made it clear on Mother’s Day that she was grateful for the way they handled the change.

“I know divorce can look very different for everyone, and it’s not always easy, but moments like these remind me that healthy co-parenting is possible when both parents focus on what really matters: the children feeling loved, supported, and having the freedom to love both parents without conflict or guilt,” she said.

“At the end of the day, our relationship may have ended, but we will always be their parents. And I am very grateful for the respect and kindness shown today.”

In an exclusive interview, Pavlovic said nine.com.au the decision to part ways was not an easy one.

“There comes a time when your body will tell you it’s time to make a change,” she said.

‘Having a mother who cannot cope mentally is not in the best interest of the children.

“I left to put myself first, but I also left to put them first, because I couldn’t deal with the way things were at all.”

Pavlovic, who won hearts for the first time in Matty J.’s season The bachelor in 2017, and Shepherdson married in 2020 after two years together.
