Target’s denim flounce jacket a $50 dupe for $1000 Ulla Johnson designer version

Published on

Fashion lovers are frenzying over Target’s latest wardrobe essential, one saving them more than $1000.

The retail chain’s $50 denim flounce jacket bears a striking resemblance to a $1441 name-brand option from Ulla Johnson

The New York label is known for its luxurious clothing items, often worn by celebrities including Meghan Markle, Rose Byrne and Vanessa Hudgens.

Now, Target has come out with a design similar to the name-brand jacket, which some shoppers even claim is a “nicer” option.

The budget-friendly jacket has gained traction online as the perfect dupe that offers customers the same stylish piece without the hefty price tag.

Retailing for $50, the Target flounce jacket is in a classic wash, with two eye-catching ruffles that run from the shoulder to the bust.

The more affordable version mimics Ulla Johnson’s design in all the right ways, though its more tailored and form-fitting cut makes it unique.

The buy has been highlighted by popular Instagram account @kmartinsider, which shared a photo of the two jackets alongside the caption, “The @targetaus one has all the flounce without ruffling up your bank account.”

Shoppers were immediately besotted and flooded the comment section with words of excitement.

“Oh my!!! Absolutely NEED! Adds to 🛒 😍,” one user shared.

“The Target one looks so much nicer,” another noted, which was replied to with, “Love that it has more structure 👏.”

One Instagrammer added, “I need this 😍😍.”

This isn’t the first time a budget retailer has gone viral for a designer dupe. However, it proves shoppers are willing to trade a brand name in for a solid bargain.

As dupe culture continues to rise in popularity, the trend shows little sign of slowing down.

Retailers are taking notice, with brands like Kmart, Target and Zara releasing styles that echo high-end pieces.

Though some suggest dupes can undercut originality, most consumers see the rising trend as an opportunity to participate in sweeping trends without breaking the bank.

As shoppers continue to prioritise affordability amid the cost of living crisis, it seems dupe culture is here to stay.
