Tennis star Alex de Minaur interrupted by fiancée Katie Boulter mid-interview in Madrid

Aussie tennis star Alex de Minaur was in the middle of an interview when he was interrupted by a special someone.

As de Minaur spoke with a Sky Sports journalist for a video interview ahead of his match in Madrid, his fiancée Katie Boulter snuck behind the camera.

She crept up and laughed with those around her as she waited for a blissfully unaware de Minaur to catch her eye.

The British number one subtly side-stepped around the camera operator into de Minaur’s view and finally caught his attention.

De Minaur smiled as he noticed his fiancée then Boulter yelled out, “You’re too good” to her future husband and the interviewer.

The pair then swapped spots as Boulter sat down for her own interview.

The moment between the engaged tennis stars was posted to the official Instagram accounts of the Tennis Channel and the Women’s Tennis Association.

“Kate sneaking on Alex’s interview,” the video caption read.

Some fans were quick to share their adoration of the sporting couple.

“I love them. Best tennis couple,” one fan wrote.

“Tennis power couple,” wrote another.

Boulter and de Minaur are currently in the Spanish capital for the Mutua Madrid Open.

Earlier this year, the tennis power couple were in Melbourne for the Australian Open and took turns supporting each other from the stands.

De Minaur even wrapped up a post match interview to make his way to Boulter’s match.

”2024 was a special year and it ended in the best possible way, I’m very happy that happened,” the 25-year-old told Nine’s John Millman on-court about their engagement.

“In saying that she’s playing right now so I better get out there and watch.”

He gestured as if he was about to turn and run off, getting a laugh from the crowd, and Millman swiftly wrapped up proceedings.

De Minaur was seen in the cool down area watching the start of Boulter’s third set before hot-footing it across to the nearby Kia Arena to watch the end of her match from the player’s box a short time later.

De Minaur was spotted jumping up in cheers for Boulter as she won a set.

The tennis power couple were earlier this year spotted supporting each other and the Australian Open in Melbourne.

Their joint appearance at the Australian Open came just weeks after the couple announced their engagement to the world.

Boulter and de Minaur shared the news with fans in a joint post, revealing, “We’ve been keeping a small secret”.

The photo, of course, showed off the British women’s singles No.1 wearing her new engagement ring.

The 25-year-old Aussie sensation met the British tennis prodigy through the sport.

Boulter knew of de Minaur through mutual friends and had heard he was a “good, humble” guy, so when she bumped into him by chance one day she decided to say hello.

“From that moment, I knew I was in it for the long haul.”

De Minaur was taken by her “smiling, happy” attitude and the pair started dating right as the COVID-19 pandemic started.

Their relationship went public in March 2021 to celebrate their one-year anniversary. They’ve been each other’s biggest supporters both on an off the court ever since.
