Boksoon Kwon, who lived with her son and learned new skills at TAFE, is remembered as warm and wise.
She took English and art classes at Cairns TAFE and made friends at Jiraporn Janluang.
“She was a very wise woman, she’s smart,” Janluang said.
‘She never says anything bad about anyone, her face is never grumpy, she is always very cordial. That’s what I can say, she’s a likeable person.’
The 71-year-old was struck and killed by a police Landcruiser in Cairns North yesterday morning.
She crossed the road at a green signal. At the same time, officers drove through an intersection to apprehend a wanted person.
“I texted her phone number and said I heard news and an accident and someone’s name was Boksoon, and her son replied and said it was her,” Janluang said.
“And I was like, ‘Oh God, this, this… that can’t be right.’
“She shouldn’t end up like this.”
Kwon’s son was too distressed to speak on camera today as the police investigation into the officers’ actions continues.
