“Can the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts be renamed without congressional approval?” wrote the judge.

“The answer, clearly from the law, is no.”

Cooper also blocked the Trump administration from closing the venue for renovations.

In December, the presidentially appointed board of trustees voted to rename it The Donald J. Trump and The John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts.

Trump had dismissed the previous administration and appointed himself chairman

The Center has been given 14 days to remove Trump’s name from all signage

In a 582 word post on Truth Social This morning Trump railed against the judge.

“Judge Cooper should be ashamed of himself!” he wrote.

Trump then announced that he would not be involved in renovating the building, even though he described it as “structurally dangerous.”

“I cannot be involved in a situation where danger to the public can flourish in plain sight.

“Unless I am free to do what I do better than anyone else, bring back this institution, physically, financially and artistically, I have no interest in continuing what could only be a hopeless journey to ‘NEVER NEVER LAND’.”

Trump said he had ordered his staff to turn over control of the Kennedy Center to Congress.

Democrats celebrated the judge’s decision.

“Trump tried to put his name on the Kennedy Center like it was one of his tacky hotels,” said Congresswoman Chellie Pingree.

“The Kennedy Center belongs to the American people. Now and always.’

Meanwhile, it has been reported that the Trump administration has set aside nearly $7 million to have four prominent statues in Washington DC clad in gold.

The four bronze horses surrounding the Lincoln Monument will receive a thick coating of 23.75-karat gold leaf after a non-bid contract is awarded.

“This is coming from the same administration that said we don’t have enough money for cancer research or to feed hungry children,” said Democratic Rep. Dwight Evans.

The center was originally named after President John F Kennedy after his assassination. (Wikipedia)
