Trump says Kimmel should be fired over shooting joke; Shooting suspect charged with attempted assassination; King and Queen touch down in the US

U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro has indicated that Allen will likely face additional charges in connection with the gala shooting.

So far, he has been accused of attempting to assassinate the US president, and then of relatively minor offenses such as transporting a gun and ammunition across state lines with the intent to commit a crime, and firing a weapon during a violent crime.

“There will be additional charges as this investigation continues,” Pirro said early this morning, Australian time.

“But make no mistake: This was an attempted assassination of the President of the United States, in which the defendant made clear his intent, and that intent was to take down as many top Cabinet officials as he could.”
