A bride is considering not inviting her brother’s fiancée to her wedding after she was previously snubbed from their nuptials.
“So this has been bugging me for a while and now it’s turning into family drama, so I need an outside perspective,” the woman shared on Reddit’s ‘Am I The A**hole’ thread.
The bride, 29, explains she is getting married this year.

She says she’s always been “friendly” with her brother’s fiancée but not “super close or anything” but there has never been any bad blood between them – at least, she didn’t think so.
“Anyway, a few months back, they started sending out wedding invites. I didn’t get one. I waited a bit, thinking maybe it was a mistake or that mine was just late, but then I asked my brother about it – kind of awkwardly – and he straight-up told me Lisa didn’t want me there,” she shared.

“When I asked why, he said she felt like I ‘draw too much attention’ and she didn’t want any distractions on her big day.”
The bride-to-be felt understandably hurt.
“I wasn’t planning to wear white or break into a choreographed dance or anything ridiculous. I just… show up, be supportive, enjoy the day. It felt like she saw me as some kind of threat, which honestly blindsided me,” she said.
She felt even worse of the fact her brother didn’t stand up for her and defended his fiancée.
“I tried to let it go even though it really stung,” she said.
Fast forward to now, and her own wedding is coming up – and guess who she isn’t inviting? Her brother’s now wife.
“I invited my brother (just him), figuring I could at least try to maintain that relationship. But now he’s upset. He called and said I’m being petty and punishing him for something that wasn’t really his doing,” the bride said.

“I told him I just don’t feel comfortable having someone at my wedding who clearly didn’t want me at hers – it’s not about revenge, it’s about protecting my peace on my own day.”
Now her brother is threatening not to come and her parents are also getting involved.
Her mum thinks she is doing the right thing, but her dad thinks she should just invite her and “not make it a bigger deal”.
The strict rules all royal brides must follow on their wedding day
“I honestly don’t know if I’m being reasonable or if I’m letting my feelings get the better of me,” she said, asking Redditers for their advice and majority feel she is justified in her decision.
One suggested: “Ultimately, it’s your wedding, and you have the right to decide who attends. Consider having a calm conversation with your brother and your parents to explain your decision, emphasising it’s about your comfort, not retaliation.”
“Prioritise your well-being on your wedding day,” they added.

Another said: “Just tell him that his wife draws too much attention and that you don’t want any distractions on your big day. I don’t know why your brother is surprised that you would do this.”
One called out the bride’s father, saying: “Where was your Dad when you were snubbed?”
“I can’t believe he let her not invite you,” another said of the bride’s brother’s actions.

“I’m getting married soon and all of his family members I dislike are invited,” she continued.
“He loves them, that’s how it works. Stand your ground, why would she think she should be invited?”
“Tell your brother you understand and get married without him,” another said.
“If your parents say s**t, remind them that you aren’t invited to his wedding.”
