What Kate Middleton really thinks about Prince William’s beard

The Princess of Wales is a fan of her husband’s new bearded look, according to a source who attended one of the couple’s recent appearances.

Kate was overheard speaking about her husband during a solo visit to Wellington Barracks in London for St Patrick’s Day with the Irish Guards.

“These trends come and go,” Kate said, adding “I was saying to my husband, I’m not sure how long he’s going to keep his for”.

Prince William has sported a beard from time to time over the years however this latest iteration has gained a vocal fan base.

The Prince of Wales’ latest rugged look was unveiled in August 2024 during the European summer when William and Kate released a video congratulating the Great Britain Olympic team.

“Pardon me ladies. I need to cool down Prince William looks so handsome with a bit of facial stubble,” one royal follower declared.

“Catherine and Prince William with the facial hair love it,” another said.

“Fantastic video!! and how beautiful to see the princess Catherine so pretty and the prince William so relaxed,” they commented.

“Prince William with some scruff, wow,” another said.

Prince William kept the beard beyond summer and it seems to be longer and more curated than ever before in recent appearances.

Former royal aide Jason Knauf told 60 Minutes Australia the beard would certainly have Kate’s approval.

“If she didn’t like it, it wouldn’t be there. I could tell you that,” he said.

Although William admitted his daughter Princess Charlotte, nine, wasn’t initially a fan.

“Well, Charlotte didn’t like it the first time. I got floods of tears, the first one I got tears, so I had to shave it off,” he said during an interview for the Earthshot Prize in November 2024, explaining he eventually grew it back and “convinced her it was going to be okay”.

Prince William leaves his day job to be a full-time royal

Royal followers are delighting in seeing the Prince and Princess of Wales back at work, attending official events together following a challenging 2024 during which the Princess of Wales underwent major abdominal surgery and battled cancer.

She announced she was in remission at the end of 2024.

The Prince and Princess of Wales have attended a number of official events together since, including meeting with injured rugby players supported by the Welsh Rugby Charitable Trust on March 15.

They stayed to watch the Six Nations match between Wales and England at Principality Stadium.

The couple also attended Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey on March 10.

On February 26 William and Kate visited Pontypridd Market in Pontypridd, Wales. In December 2024, Pontypridd was one of a number of towns across Wales which was hit by severe flooding as a result of Storm Bert and Storm Darragh.

That same day the couple learned to make Welsh Cakes at The Welsh Cake Shop.
