Why Prince Harry doesn’t show Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet’s faces in photos, according to a royal expert Matt Wilkinson

A royal expert has provided insight into why we have never had a clear glimpse of Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, and it may span back 40 years in the past.

According to The Sun’s Royal Editor Matt Wilkinson, the issue spans back to how their father Prince Harry dealt with media when he himself was a child.

Speaking on Hello Magazine’s A Right Royal Podcast, the expert said, “My understanding of this or up to a certain stage is that Harry would much rather his children were not seen. He doesn’t want them to be papped.

“He’s got this idea that if he takes them outside of Montecito that there’s a horde of us out there trying to take pictures of his kids – they’re not by the way.”

He says this is quite different to the way Meghan grew up, saying, ”she wants her children to have a more kind of California style lifestyle you know take him down the beach, go out, do stuff. She doesn’t want to hide them away and we’ve seen this haven’t we more and more with the use of of Lilibet and Archie.”

He adds that though we don’t see their faces, they are being featured in imagery more and more, especially since Meghan launched her Instagram account and began teasing her lifestyle brand As Ever.

The panel of experts on the podcast noted that it is similar to the way many influencers share their children, either blurring their faces or posing them in a way that doesn’t reveal them.

“She’s using them to display her brand because she’s a mother, remember? And she’s homemaker and cooking at home,” Wilkinson said.

”I don’t particularly mind her putting pictures of the children on but I think Harry probably is not overly happy.”

He believes this may be because Harry is stuck in the past.

”It’s a different culture – I think Harry’s living in… a lifestyle from – or the way things were like when he was a child… it’s not like that anymore, the media landscape has shifted.”
