Woman asks TikTok if her Maid of Honour dress is appropriate – everyone’s response was the same

Being Maid of Honour comes with a host of responsibilities, including avoiding outshining the bride at all costs.

A Maid of Honour, who was told to pick her own dress for her friend’s big day, has taken to social media to ask if the frock she ordered was wedding appropriate, sparking a controversial debate.

“My current dilemma is that I bought this dress from the ASOS range drop. It magically came back in stock, and I immediately bought it because I thought I wanted it for my best friend’s wedding, [for] which I’m the Maid of Honour,” Kelly started her video.

The content creator recorded herself standing in front of a mirror wearing the dazzling sequined pale yellow gown she hoped to wear on her best friend’s special day.

While predicting the internet’s response, Kelly continued, “I know you probably think that’s crazy, but the theme for the bridesmaids is like fun, colourful, unique dresses, but I don’t; I still think it’s too much, and I need an opinion.”

“If it is too much, should I keep the dress and hope I can wear it in the future, or should I just return it because I’m delusional?” she asked viewers.

“I need you all to tell me if it’s a vibe; she is gorgeous, though. Let me know what y’all think. Is this too much for anything? Like, how could I ever wear this?”

Kelly concluded by wondering, “Do you think it’s too much for a Maid of Honour? I think the answer is yes.”

Viewers rushed to the comment section and the overwhelming response was she absolutely could not wear it.

“Do not wear that to someone else’s wedding unless they are an enemy,” commented one person.

“I feel like it would be too attention-grabbing standing next to a bride at a wedding. But definitely keep it! Could be fun for NYE or another fancy event,” another added.

“Don’t wear to the wedding because you’ll outshine the bride!” a third agreed.

But one user was less inclined to immediately veto the gown and commented, “I think it depends on your friend’s opinion – as a bride I would’ve loved one of my bridesmaids to wear this but I know lots of people who would freak out that this is too white 😂 ask her!!”
