A dog has been killed and its owner seriously injured in a dog attack in Perth’s northern suburbs.

The incident, just one of a series of attacks in the area, was captured on CCTV.

The small dog was ripped from his owner’s arms and mauled by two larger dogs in a driveway on Sycamore Rise.

The woman is seen screaming as she tries to pry her pup from their grasp before a neighbor runs over and breaks up the scuffle with a stick.

The traumatized owner suffered serious arm injuries in the attack, while her beloved dog could not be saved.

The pair of dogs were spotted running loose on a nearby street about an hour before the attack.

After the attack, neighbors said they kept the vicious dogs in a garden for an hour until council wardens arrived and the pair were seized.

“It is probably one of the most disturbing images I have seen in my time as mayor,” Stirling Mayor Mark Irwin said.

“The dogs were clearly out of control. I don’t know how they got into that situation, but they were out of control at that time.”

The city has about 25,000 registered dogs and attacks are something it experiences every week.

Tonight there is a strict message for the owners.

“People need to control their dogs, they need to know if their dog is reactive,” Irwin said.
