Trump rushed from White House Media Dinner after shots fired; Shooter ‘apprehended’

Trump released his first statement after being evacuated from the ballroom, insisting he wanted to return to the dinner.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said the Secret Service and police officers did a fantastic job on “an entire evening.”

“They acted quickly and courageously. The shooter has been apprehended and I have recommended that we ‘CONTINUE THE SHOW’ but that we will be fully guided by law enforcement,” he said.

“They will make a decision soon. Regardless of that decision, the evening will go very differently than planned, and we will simply have to do it again.’
