Aussie influencer Daphne Berry issues public apology after ‘thoughtless’ joke about drinking while pregnant

US influencer Daphne Berry, 34, has publicly apologized after ‘joking’ about drinking alcohol while pregnant.

The model, who is 24 weeks pregnant, was criticized when she shared a video this week in which she said she was enjoying “sips of wine” despite being expecting a child.

“I made a very bad and thoughtless joke, and I understand why it upset people. I am truly sorry to anyone I offended,” Berry began in an apology posted several days later.

“Not a day goes by that I don’t count my lucky stars for my life and that joke was not a reflection of that.

“I’m really sorry.”

Berry hosts the Air your dirty laundry podcast and is in a relationship with Lime Cordiale musician Oliver Leimbach.

She received a wave of backlash after posting a now-deleted clip of her pretending to drink a glass of wine.

In the video, Berry raised the glass to her mouth, but no alcohol was seen.

“Sips of wine while pregnant because there are literally people getting pregnant,” she captioned the original post.

The ‘thoughtless’ post received strong criticism from those online.

“Very disappointing to behave like this with such a large audience,” one person wrote.

Another said: “This is awful. Why is she so careless?”

“Absolutely disgusting and disappointing.”

Berry and Oliver shared in February 2026 that they were expecting their first child together.

The couple discovered Berry was pregnant on Christmas morning in 2025.

“We wrapped the pregnancy test and gave it to both our mothers to open as a ‘gift,’” she wrote at the time.

“It was one of the most special moments of our lives.”

Medical experts recommend avoiding alcohol completely during pregnancy.
