Australia’s largest Lego collection worth $250,000 goes under the hammer

Australia’s largest Lego collection goes under the hammer, with bidding starting at just $1 for thousands of sets.
The entire collection consists of a million individual pieces, is worth approximately $250,000 and was collected by a woman from Brisbane.

She said it started as therapy but grew into a hobby and passion, and she spent 50 years building her brick-and-mortar empire.

She is now prepared to share that with any Australian who is willing to put their money where their mouth is.

Some of the rarer pieces can cost tens of thousands of dollars, including a rare Imperial Star Destroyer from Star Wars or Rome’s Colosseum.

Other items up for grabs include Harry Potter, Marvel and Disney sets.

There are several real or historical sets, including the White House, and even an old-fashioned typewriter.

Rachael McCann of Lloyd’s Auctions said the haul is not just a piece of Australian history.

“After a little research, this could be one of the largest in the world ever offered at auction as one entire collection from a single seller,” she said.

Bidding ends on April 20 for the Queensland Lego collection.
