Donald Trump, a noted fan of the fighting competition, previously revealed plans to stage a fight on the South Lawn next month as part of celebrations for the US’s 250th anniversary – as well as its 80th birthday.

Trump has said the completed UFC project will feature “a 5,000-seat arena right outside the front door of the White House.”

Oversized screens broadcasting the fights will be set up in a park at the nearby Ellipse, and the UFC has said it plans to issue as many as 85,000 free tickets to accommodate spectators at both venues.

“I’ve never seen anyone want something as much as people want tickets,” Trump said recently about being asked to attend the UFC fight, adding: “That’s going to be a thing.

“The card is rated by fans online as disappointing, with only two championship fights.

Brazil’s Alex Pereira will face France’s Ciryl Gane for the interim UFC heavyweight title. Next up, Spanish-Georgian lightweight champion Ilia Topuria will take on interim champion Justin Gaethje, one of only two Americans who currently hold even a share of the UFC’s 11 championship titles.
