Prince Harry has doubled his place in the royal family during a high-stakes visit to Ukraine, where comments about the war led to a sharp exchange with Donald Trump.
The Duke of Sussex insisted he would “always be part of the Royal Family”, six years after stepping back from his official duties with his wife. Meghan Markle.
“I will always be part of the royal family, and I work here to do the things I was born to do. And I love doing it.”

The comments came at the end of a two-day trip that took him to Bucha, just outside Kiev – a city now synonymous with alleged war crimes after hundreds of civilians were killed during a Russian occupation.
Standing at a memorial for these victims, Harry made it clear that he has little desire to remain silent on global issues.

“From my perspective, we need to feel empowered to speak truth to power. It’s as simple as that,” he told ITV Royal Editor Chris Ship.
“What would concern me is that we live in a world where someone in my position or anywhere cannot talk about the things and the reality that we see,” he said.

“I fundamentally disagree with that.”
Speaking at the Kiev Security Forum, Harry, 41, urged the United States to take a more active role in the conflict – which is widely seen as a sharp slap against Donald Trump.
“The United States plays a unique role in this story, not just because of its power, but because when Ukraine gave up nuclear weapons, America was part of the assurance that Ukraine’s sovereignty and borders would be respected,” he said.

“This is a moment for American leadership, a moment for America, to demonstrate that it can meet its international treaty obligations – not out of charity, but out of its continued role in global security and strategic stability.”
The US president hit back within hours, insisting that the duke does not speak for Britain.
“I know one thing: Prince Harry does not speak for Britain, that’s for sure. I think I speak for Britain more than Prince Harry,” he said.
“But I really appreciate his advice.”
He added, “How is he? How is his wife? Please say hi to her.”
The clash comes just days before King Charles III is due to travel to the US for a state visit, although Harry insisted his comments would not affect the trip.
‘No, I don’t think so. Not at all.’
The trip to Ukraine also struck a personal chord with Harry. He spent time at The HALO Trust – the landmine charity closely associated with his mother, Princess Diana, whose 1997 visit to a minefield in Angola became one of the defining images of her humanitarian work.
The organization works to remove landmines and unexploded weapons left behind in conflict zones so that civilians can safely return to their homes.
“It’s sad, it’s very, very sad, because almost 30 years since my mother was in Angola, we are in another conflict,” Harry said after meeting teams working near Bucha.
“It’s sad and depressing, but thank God for Halo Trust.”
The trip marks Harry’s third time in Ukraine since the start of the war.
