Terrified patrons caught up in drive-by shooting at popular bar

Patrons have been caught in the crossfire after a busy Melbourne bar was targeted in a drive-by shooting that night.

The Emerson in South Yarra was open when a car drove into the Commercial Road location and a gunman fired several shots into the building just before 2am.

No one was injured.

It is not known how many people were in the car at the time, but the car fled the scene.

The shooter remains on the run.

There is still a heavy police presence at the scene of the accident this morning, where part of Commercial Road remains closed.

The nightclub was targeted by arsonists less than two weeks ago.
