UAE intercepts Iranian missiles in first strikes since ceasefire; Donald Trump threatens to blow Iran ‘off the face of the Earth’; US defends South Korean cargo ship

The United States and Israel are considering military retaliatory strikes against Iranian missile launchers and power plants after the attack on the UAE, reports say.

US and Israeli officials are now in “intensive discussions” about a military response to targets in Iran, according to the Hebrew-language Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom.

“According to three officials familiar with the matter, the most likely options include targeted attacks on launch facilities and military targets threatening the strait, or a parallel attack on an Iranian energy facility in response to the attack on Fujairah,” the report said.

Earlier, the UAE said it had intercepted dozens of Iranian drones and missiles.

An oil storage terminal, partly owned by the Australian company IFM Investors, was hit. Three people had to be treated in hospital.
